Maria Elena González

MARIA ELENA GONZÁLEZ is a Cuban-American visual artist who is best known for installations whose themes and structures are informed by personal experience and architectural theory.
One exhibition that I saw back in 1992 still resonates, both literally and figuratively, for me today: Ilya Kabakov’s Incident at the Museum or Water Music at the Ronald Feldman Gallery.

On the occasion of her exhibition at Greenberg Van Doren Gallery, Julia Kunin: Nightwood (February 23 – April 21, 2012), Maria Elena González met with Julia to converse about her current work.
