This is an extraordinary compendium of meeting notes, announcements, protest letters to institutions, other miscellany, and most notably some meaty essays tracking the evolution of Asian American identity and beyond. It makes for engrossing reading for art activists, and must-reading in these days of (temporary?) focus on “diversity.”

Autobiography has long been a powerful fertilizer for women’s art and many of the stories told in Shameless Feminists are creative nonfiction, full of tales of lonely, talented, ignored women coming into their own through community support. WW3 has lasted all this time because it is so genuinely committed to social justice and communicates with such gusto.

I’ve been pondering this for many (40+) years and have yet to figure out how a non-commercial art world can support artists.
