Leslie King-Hammond
Leslie King-Hammond is an American artist, curator, art historian, and Founding Director of the Center for Race and Culture at the Maryland Institute College of Art, where she is also Graduate Dean Emeritus.
Paleoanthropologists have confirmed that the DNA of all modern-day Homo sapiens evolved from a single woman known as the “Mitochondrial Eve” who lived in Africa. It gives one a sense of “pause” to consider the gravity of this scientific evidence, especially in the face of pseudoscience and socio-political fallacies in the construction of racism.
