I am often shocked at the news that some artist has become the art world’s darling, showing in some gallery as if these things matter. It feels so far away from my reality. There used to be at least two art worlds, one around the market and power, the other outside it. They were however in cohabitation with some porosity between them. I am now convinced that they have turned into two different realities altogether.
