In Phuong Nguyen’s current exhibition at IRL Gallery, No Still Waters, three small, oil still lifes of ceramic objects, framed with intricate woodwork, hang on one wall (all works 2026). From Toronto with Vietnamese roots, Nguyen paints through the lens of the diaspora.
Chen Peng and Fan Wu have made an exhibition of paintings, drawings, and sculptures (all 2026) of their dogs Kara and Oke. In the collaborative show Dog Nights, Peng’s dreamy oil paintings pair with Wu’s ink drawings to create a portrait of magic and vulnerability.
Each abstract painting in Liliane Tomasko’s Poem Things, on view at Nino Mier Gallery, uses forms and colors to construct a distinct emotional presence. The show’s title references the German concept “Dinggedicht,” which suggests that every object carries its own independent life.
Nude women float amidst vibrant colors in Emily Sundblad’s The Adolescent Ocean, on view at Bortolami Gallery until August 8. The artist echoes authentic societal pressures placed upon women by presenting women in fantastical settings.
