Gayatri Sinha
Gayatri Sinha is a curator and critic based in New Delhi. She is founder and editor of criticalcollective.in, a resource on the visual arts in South Asia.
This double obliteration of the past is at the core of the different iterations of Ijlal’s painting Iqbal Maidan (2021) from the series “Hostile Witness” (fig. 1). Between 2014 and 2019, she visited sites in the cities of Bhopal, Varanasi, Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai in preparation of this series.
