Carla Harryman

Carla Harryman is the author of twenty-six books of poetry, plays, and essays. Recent books include a volume in Russian and English, Various DevicesSelected Writings (1979-2023), edited by Vladimir Feschenko (2024); Cloud Cantata (2022); the English and French editions Sue in Berlin and Sue à Berlin, trans. Sabine Huynh (2018); and A Voice to Perform: One Opera/Two Plays ( 2020). Her recent performance works feature improvised music and speaking and singing voices and include Scales for the Living Under Duress (The Lab, San Francisco, 2025) and Gardener of Stars, an Opera (Torn Page, New York, 2024).
