Tiona Nekkia McClodden’s The Trace of An Implied Presence features an ambitious multimedia installation that follows the living history of contemporary Black dance in America.

Focusing on Minax’s return to his Michigan hometown to tell the story of his infant niece’s death, the film documents not only the grief of his niece’s passing, but also his childhood and family’s response to his transness and the possibility of a queer self-acutalized existence.
