This October marks 10 years in print for The Brooklyn Rail. To honor that anniversary, we have selected our 10 favorite nonfiction essays that revolve around the theme of a “personal political voyage.” A team of outside readers will then choose the essay they like best—and we will announce the winner in October. What follows is a sampling of the ten best, with more to come in our next two issues.
