Lydia Millet’s newest book is Atavists: Stories (2025). She has written many novels and story collections, along with a work of nonfiction called We Loved It All: A Memory of Life (2024). Her novel A Children’s Bible (2020) was a National Book Award finalist and a New York Times Book Review Best 10 Books of 2020; other books have been honored by the American Academy of Arts and Letters, PEN-Center USA, and as a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. Since 1999 she has worked as a writer and editor at the Center for Biological Diversity.

Mandana Chaffa is founder and editor-in-chief of Nowruz Journal, a periodical of Persian arts and letters and a finalist for the Community of Literary Magazines and Presses’s Best Magazine/Debut; and an editor-at-large at Chicago Review of Books. She serves on the board of the National Book Critics Circle, where she is vice president of the Barrios Book in Translation Prize and co-vice president of Membership, and is president of the board of The Flow Chart Foundation. Born in Tehran, Iran, she lives in New York.
