Jilaine Jones

Jilaine Jones was born in 1959 in London, England, immigrating to the US in 1963. A sculptor, she primarily works with steel, clay, concrete, and plaster; drawing, collage, and bas-relief, are also a part of her practice. Her work contains ideas based on the phenomena and parallels of landscape, architecture, and the body, as well as being generated directly by the ideas in structure. She studied initially at the College of Ceramics, Alfred NY and then at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA between 1979 and 1983. She has been sculpture faculty at the New York Studio School since 2001. Solo exhibitions have been at New York Studio School in 2008, Salander-O’Reilly Galleries, 2001 and Paul Mellon Art Center, 1999.
