Artists Aaron Lehman and Timmy Simonds join Rail contributor Alice Centamore for a conversation.

Aaron Lehman

Aaron Lehman is an artist and designer living in Maine. His work attempts to understand art, language, and technology primarily as material processes that are both necessary for and byproducts of communication, through which we extend the self and body, and expand the potential for different types of contact. His work has been exhibited in NYC, London, and Mexico, and his collaborative radio work with Timothy Simonds airs on Montez Press Radio and WGXC Wave Farm.

Timmy Simonds is an artist who moves between object-making, writing, routines of caretaking, and participatory exercises. His ongoing project, Miss Othmar School for Teachers, is a school with no student body. Since 2018 he’s broadcast regularly with Montez Press Radio and Wave Farm, leading programs with different collaborators and his students. He teaches regularly at Pratt Institute where he co-developed a program for creative approaches to writing for the Fine Arts curriculum. He’s shared his own writing in magazines including PIN-UP and through talks and workshops at Yale, Princeton, Brown, and E.P.F.L. Some places that have shared his work include P.P.O.W., Dia Art Foundation, Rond-Point Projects, Special Special, Greene Naftali, Kai Matsumiya, Sara’s, among many others.
