On Coney Island at the corner of 12th Street and Surf Avenue, across from an empty lot and a dingy furniture store, in a building made of driftwood, held together with paint and plaster, stands America’s last sideshow, the Sideshow by the Seashore.

The Beast with Two Backs

The store was so pink it hurt my eyes and as I wandered behind my doctor lady-friend I must have looked silly, head and shoulders above the clothing racks apparently strolling by myself as my doctor was too short to be seen.
