In this time of actual theater closures, virtual theater spaces are burgeoning. Following is a curated list of live theater programming by top NYC innovators, now available for your at-home viewing pleasure and participation.

Contagious Closet Dramas

Solos in Solidarity

AUNTS WPA: micro stimulus

What: “In an effort to support artists, show some of the work that has gone unseen, and to provide light and inspiration for our community during the COVID-19 Pandemic, we present AUNTS WPA, a series of chain curated virtual live shows. AUNTS has curated the first 5 artists, the next 5 are curated by those 5 artists, then those artists curate for a total of 15 artists/performances.”

Trickle Up

What: “Taylor Mac, Kristin Marting, Morgan Jenness, Emily Morse, Niegel Smith, and a group of over 50 other New York City artists—including Tony Award, Pulitzer Prize, MacArthur Fellowship and OBIE Award winners spanning numerous disciplines—have hatched a plan to help artists hurt from the COVID-19 shutdown. Inspired by the artists-on-behalf-of-artists activism of Elizabeth Swados, they have made a new grassroots subscription video platform, The Trickle Up (A NYC Artists Network).” All proceeds benefit NYC theater artists financially impacted by COVID-19 theater shutdown.
