Murat Nemet-Nejat's work includes the translations A Blind Cat Black and Orthodoxies (Sun & Moon Press, 1997), and Eda: An Anthology of Contemporary Turkish Poetry (Talisman Books, 2004). "The Spiritual Life of Replicants" is part six of a 250-page, seven part poem entitled The Structure of Escape. The question underlying "The Spiritual" is whether it is possible to imagine, to trace a language of death. Since consciousness (the very essence of living) is intricately bound to language, is it possible to decouple them, have them exist as independent, distinct entities?
